EC90: What if exterior trap or other blockage/freezing?

The condensate collector provides its own P-trap to protect the installation from exhaust gases. It is common to forget to prime the trap upon initial installation but soon after 15 minutes of operation the P-trap will prime itself.

• external P-trap installation or wrong pitch angle to water heater
• freezing condition, there is freeze prevention heaters within case of the heater that protect the unit down to -30F for indoor installation and -4F for outdoor installation.

The condensate collector is made of plastic material because the condensate contains acidic quality from the exhaust gases condensing. Install PVC, vinyl or other acid resistant material for the condensate drain. DO NOT install copper tubing.
