Fan Motor (part#) and Venturi

Lesson
Materials

The gas venturi is attached to the fan motor assembly because its operation is controlled by the vacuum created by the fan motor operation. When the fan motor initiates, it draws combustion air from the cabinet as well as sucks the gas out of the gas valve assembly. The fan motor pulls the right amount of air and gas for ideal combustion. The venturi is two stages. The first stage is always default, and after a certain RPM speed generated from the fan motor assembly, the venturi opens up the second stage for air and gas to mix for higher temperature and volume demands.

The gas venturi diameter determines the gas input rating and the gas type: natural gas or propane. Propane units are identified at the time of purchase with a bright green “LP” sticker on the box. Units can also be field converted with an aftermarket kit.
