Gas

Noritz provides options for natural gas or propane water heaters. Among other rating plate differences, a propane unit will have a bright green LP sticker on the packaging.

Gas is used during the combustion process and requires a consistent flow to maintain temperature and flow. Residential units require up to 200,000 Btu/hr, while Commercial units can reach up to 380,000 Btu/hr input.

It is important to size the gas line appropriately. While the heater will operated with as little as 5″ wc supply, a large hot water demand may require more gas that the supply can give. This results in low water pressure output from the heater and potentially unable to get to temperature.
